CUBICLE - I am outraged by what Ralph de la Vega, AT&T President & CEO of Mobility and Consumer Markets, has said today in New York. According to AppleInsider, PC World:
“the nation’s second-largest wireless provider has been working to improve its network as bandwidth-hungry devices like the iPhone 3GS have resulted in poorer quality service. But he also said, according to The Associated Press, that it is inevitable that high-bandwidth users will be charged for what they use. The report noted that 40 percent of the network capacity for AT&T is used by just 3 percent of smartphone users. Most of the bandwidth goes to activities like streaming audio and video, available through various applications for download on the iPhone.”
I can’t believe AT&T wireless is trying to put the blame and cost on the consumers instead of expanding their network as promised in their contract for unlimited data. If you say that you’re the “nation’s fastest 3G network”, then you should have a robust network that is not afraid of users using tons of data. It’s the “nation’s fastest 3G network” needs to limit people from using it, then I think AT&T will have to add a subtitle “-when most other users are not using the network, otherwise restrictions and additional charges apply!” It’s like you hearing Ferrarri say that you can go top speed at 200mph, but they they put a limit of 150mph on the speedometer >_<
Anyway, I was just talking to a coworker about doing the following:
1. Set up a website to ask people to boycott AT&T
2. Encourage current AT&T wireless users, especially iPhone users, to break out of the contract ($175 penalty) if they have more than 6 months left on the contract.
3. Sell advertisement on the website to Verizon, T-mobile (if you really love GSM), Sprint for people to get deals on their new contract, WITH unlimited data plan incentive
4. Pocket some money from AT&T when AT&T begs you to close down your website.
5. Start another website from step number 1
Anyway, I just hope that AT&T Wireless can realize what they have just said, and hopefully they can really work on customer satisfaction instead of driving more people away from the company…

dont think att will do that anymore, playa!
haha, i agree with james man that they are not going to put a cap. but i don’t see why they want to say that either
they ain’t doing it because they can’t affodr to lose more customers its bad enough with the verizon commercials but i say do the website lol
