A 5-minute Talk

positive thinking

CUBICLE – Today I was pretty sad and frustrated while trying to work hard.  My wife has been away in another state taking care of her mom, and now she can’t come back tonight as scheduled because her mom has to go through yet another operation tomorrow.  Not having seen her for almost 3 weeks now, and knowing that I won’t see her for another few weeks, I couldn’t help but feeling really down.

Just when I was about to leave for home, my 63-year-old coworker came by and just brightened my whole day! He asked how my mother-in-law is doing, and of course I told him in my sad voice that she’s not doing too well.  Then my coworker started sharing how we should appreciate life than thinking about all the unfortunate things we have.  Life is full of unexpectedness, surprises, and just a lot of disappointments overall, but if we keep ourselves in these emotional traps because things are not the way we want them to be, then life loses its meaning.   When you smile for 2 seconds this morning seeing the sun ray piercing through the clouds, REMEMBER that feeling! Or if you pray for that green light to stay on until you pass it, and it does happen, REMEMBER the exhilaration! Memory is recorded and can be re-played any time of the day, and good memories can certainly reboot you from these potential emotional traps in life~

So yeah, I decided to change my attitude, and believe that God’s trying to train us to be stronger through this distance (space and time), and I should continue to appreciate all that I’ve been given, and even the things I don’t have.  I do hope I can keep this up, but either way, I’ll try to REMEMBER this 5-minute talk today~
